Claimed as the world’s largest independent diesel engine manufacturer, American company, Cummins, has been producing enclosed marine diesel engines since 1925. Its diesel engines can now be found in armored fighting vehicles, fire engines, 360-ton haulage trucks, agricultural vehicles, 18-wheeler HGVs, commercial support vessels, and, of course, recreational yachts.

In the marine sector, its engines range from 246bhp to 4,200bhp, propelling all manner of vessels from sportsboats to superyachts with its engines, which have capacities ranging from 6.7-liters up to the 95-liter Cummins QSK95, the most powerful high-speed engine ever built for the marine market.

Many of the company’s engine designs are well-proven over decades of commercial use, while newer models continue to become more efficient with lower emissions. All of its marine diesels comply with the IMO (International Maritime Organization) Tier I protocol and many also comply with the more stringent Tier II and Tier III protocols for reduced emissions.
