The top end of MAN’s yacht engine offerings is a range of high-performance 24-litre V12 turbo diesels that are suitable for yachts of up to around 100ft in length, with high-pressure common-rail fuel injection and a power range of 1,400-2,000hp. The 2,000hp model has a particularly impressive power density of 61kW per litre of displacement and power-to-weight ratio of 1.6kg per kW.

Like the other MAN yacht engine series, the V12s deliver maximum torque across a wide range of revs – up to 6,500Nm at any engine speed between 1,200 and 2,100rpm. Recent innovations for this range of engines include new cylinder heads, a more efficient cooling system and a reinforced crankcase that should extend the engines’ service life.
